Logo and full editorial design for a dessert cookbook — page layouts, recipe typography and print mockups.
the brief
A dessert cookbook, designed from the logo through to the printed page. Recipe spreads, chapter openers, the grid that holds it all together, and the social collateral around the launch.
Cookbooks are read standing up, in a kitchen, with one hand covered in something.
the tricky bit
Recipe layout is a genuinely hard typographic problem. Ingredients are a list, method is a sequence, timings interrupt both, and the photograph wants the whole page.
Most cookbooks solve it by making the type too small to follow while cooking.
what I did
A two-column recipe grid: ingredients pinned left in a narrow measure, method running wide on the right, both set large enough to read from standing height.
Food photography gets full bleed on the facing page so it never competes with the type. Warm blue and cream throughout keeps the desserts as the only bright thing in the book.
