the brief
Vaidshala makes Ayurvedic oral care: toothpaste and tooth powder, no chemicals, built on methods that predate the category by a few thousand years. The whole identity, the packaging across the range, and the website are mine.
The product is genuinely old-fashioned. The brand could not be.
the tricky bit
Ayurveda in oral care has a presentation problem. The category's visual language runs to temple gold and Sanskrit, which reads devotional rather than clinical, or it copies the mainstream tube outright and throws away the only reason to buy it.
A toothpaste also has to look like it works. Herbal cues tip into "homemade" very fast, and nobody wants homemade in their mouth.
what I did
Cream and a deep botanical green, set in a classical serif — old enough to carry a claim that predates the category, clean enough to sit on a shelf beside brands with television budgets. One leaf mark, drawn once, used from the crimp of the tube down to the favicon.
The pack keeps its claims to three and states them flatly: 100% natural, SLS free, made in India. The site holds the same discipline — one promise per screen, product shot against the same green, so the pack and the page are unmistakably the same brand rather than two designs that happen to share a logo.
