Branding and packaging for a small-scale popcorn brand — the whole identity delivered on a low budget, built to reach a lot of people cheaply.
the brief
KPS Foods needed packaging for a popcorn brand priced at ₹20 a packet. Branding, packaging, the lot — on a budget that matched the price point.
When the product costs twenty rupees, the packaging has to earn its place in a fraction of a second and cost almost nothing to print.
the tricky bit
Low budget means limited colours, cheap film stock and no fancy finishes. Low price means the packet is bought on impulse, from a rack, at arm's length.
So it needed to be loud enough to catch an eye and simple enough to print for next to nothing.
what I did
A comic-book burst holding the name, a hand-drawn popcorn box illustration, and two colours doing everything. Yellow and cream, black line art, no gradients, no photography.
The flavour name sits in a fixed slot so a new flavour is a plate change rather than a redesign. It looks like a snack, not like a design exercise.
