the tricky bit
The brief was the whole length of the room, not a feature panel. At that scale a mural stops being decoration and becomes the interior — get the density wrong and the room either feels empty or exhausting to sit in for an hour.
A restaurant wall also has to work at two distances: read as a scene from the door, and reward the person waiting for their food with something to find.
what I did
A dense full-colour street scene — carts, shopfronts, signage, crowds — composed so the eye has somewhere to rest between clusters rather than meeting one flat wall of detail.
Scale does the work that a frame would: figures near the seating are drawn large enough to read from a table, while the shopfronts and signage stay small and busy, so the wall keeps giving things back on a second visit.
